This 2.5 hour experiential 3 part art workshop will use art in a playful, exploratory way, to hopefully help you get some ick out (something that you feel stuck on or in) so hopefully new and fresh energy and experiences can come in. Participants are encouraged to think about one topic that they tend to get stuck in that they feel ready and curious enough to explore through markers, crayons and colored pencils. Sometimes getting something down on a piece a paper, similar to journaling, is all we need to get the clarity to move forward through a situation. It’s as if by drawing out a particular situation, we literally get it out of the system. This new clarify can be a spring board for fresh, new energies, ideas, and inspirations to come in!
Art is one of humanities most ancient tools for self expression and communication. We had art probably before we had a spoken language and most certainly before we had the written word. Through art we can often tap into deep subconscious energies and see them for what they are on the neutral confines of a piece of paper. Sometimes through this externalization of a situation, person or experience we can see things with a fresh pair of eyes. Art is often a great way to express what is often too confusing to put into words, yet with art, this tiny picture often speaks volumes to our souls, much more at times than words alone. This simple, yet powerful act, is often just enough to flip a situation.
The second part of this workshop will be to draw the flip side of the ick. Once we’ve gotten out the crumminess on paper now its time to tune into and attempt to draw what inspires and moves us. What’s the yum, flip-side of that ick? This part of the workshop allows participants to tune in and see if they can translate the subtle and yummy energies that were under all that ickiness and see what would like to bloom in 2022!
The last part of this workshop is a sharing circle, not so much the topic of exploration, actually participants are encouraged to keep their art private in the moment to let the magic deeply unfold, but they are encouraged to share deeply if they felt any shifts or got clarities and inspirations, or how they felt during the process.
Elizabeth, the guide, will share a little how she got through some pretty tough and challenging years when often her main companion, and most trusted (and affordable) therapist was a marker, set of colored pencils and paper. And it was through art she was often able to see a situation for what it really was, in order to fully process something and move on.
Elizabeth has worked in the healing and holistic arts extensively since 2006 and has studied deeply inner child healing work. Many close friends and colleague's have encouraged her for years to share more of her artistic process for exploring and sometimes healing tough topics, and now she’s ready to share. This class will be her first public sharing of her process, and she hopes she can help others in a playful, safe and light way to deal with life’s challenges. Feedback is welcome and encouraged, hence the beta test and beta testing prices.
Workshop parts:
Part a) introduction and tapping into and drawing the Ick
Part b) Flipping the ick and exploring the yum moving in the heart once the ick is cleared. What is it that would like to arise and blossom from all that great Ick compost?
Part c) Closing, allowing the juiciness of our art to nourish ourselves deeply by keeping to ourselves, if this feels right what was uncovered or witnessed, but sharing how this process changed or moved us or gave new insights.
Everyone is asked to help tidy up upon leaving so please plan a few extra minutes upon leaving.
Class fee covers room rental, art supplies (feel free to bring a few of your own) keep in mind we are cleaning up after class, and instructions.
Feel free to bring extra art supplies, pillows and cushions for more comfort. Class will be on the floor and at a few tables for those with body challenges. There are walls to lean on too for more comfort. Participants may want to bring a hard surface to draw on for more ease.
Covid pre-caution:
Everyone is asked to wear a mask and/or face shield to help protect all that attend. Anyone feeling sick before or any time during will be allowed to cancel and apply class fees to a future class. Please do not attend if you are feeling unwell.
